The artist and international painter, Aharon Yakobson, has lately earned the right to accurately recreate a piece of ancient art at the "Abohav" synagogue.
The mentioned painting is a painting of Rachel's grave that faded during the years and in the synagogue, they insisted on an accurate recreation and rejected many artists, who offered themselves for the recreation.
The artist, Jacobson, works in a technique that resembles the technique of the first artists in Zfat during the 50's and the 60's. "He's a member of the "Artist Campus" and a religious person, says Jacob Hadad, the manager of "Castle" Gallery at the artist neighborhood.
The artist, Jacobson, earned many art awards in Israel and around the world, and was excited the manager of the synagogue, Mair Krasenty, chose him for this for this rare assignment. "With an artist of Jacobson's level, Zfat can maintain the legacy of the artist neighborhood after the passing of many artists" says Krasenty.
It is important to mention that at the "Abohav" synagogue, many paintings that decorated the walls of the synagogue for 30 years have been recreated by an artist, who recreated the synagogue's dome, a work that lasted months.
